Contraception

Haringey Contraception Service

We provide an open access service to enable individuals to take appropriate responsibility for their sexual behaviour and practice safe sex so that they can enjoy free of fear of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. All our contraception clinics offer a free and confidential service.

Services offered at our community contraceptive clinics are: - Prescribe and advice on most methods of contraception - Supply of contraceptive methods - Pregnancy testing - Counselling and referral for termination of pregnancy - Advice and referral on sexually transmitted infections - Emergency contraception and advice - Gynaecology advice - Offer Chlamydia screening for under 25's.

Where to go for help and advice? You can obtain free contraception and advice, from your general practice,  visit a contraception (family planning) clinic, sexual health clinic, young people service or pharmacies for advice.

All methods of contraception will prevent you from getting pregnant if used correctly, but condoms and femidoms (female condom) will also protect you against most Sexually Transmitted Infections.

If you need more information you can visit our contraception (family planning) clinic or a young people's clinic where you will be able to talk to a nurse in complete confidence. You can also get advice and information about contraception on the 4YP Bus. All our Contraception clinics offer a free and confidential walk in service or appointment service. Appointments are offered for procedures such as insertion of coils (IUD/IUS) and implants. For more information please call our help line on 020 8442 6536.
